This morning something traumatic happened. My son had just driven off in the bus and I was sitting at my car at the end of the driveway. A car went off the road and came FLYING toward me. In front of the driveway is a highway with the speed limit of 55. This is one of the reasons I sit and wait with my kids to catch the bus each morning. :)

Anyway, I tried to put the car in reverse, and gun it, but only got to neutral. Luckily for me, he landed in the ditch. My kids came out and we got him out of the ditch and looked down the road in time to see another car spinning out of control into another car. It was a loud crunch and one that won't soon be forgotten. My second youngest son was sick about it. It was the first wreck he had ever seen. The airbag was deployed in one car and the lady who got out was in emotional shock, but despite the cars being totaled, I believe everyone else was okay.

The problem was, the fog was SO THICK and the roads so icy that soon other cars were flying off the road to avoid hitting them and hitting those cars on the road. When it happened, I had immediately grabbed my phone called 911 but it took quite a while to get the authorities out here.

(THIS IS A PIC AN HOUR LATER AFTER THEY HAD CLEARED A LOT OF IT. YOU CAN'T SEE IT VERY WELL.)

It made me think about my life. These people were deeply affected and the consequences of the accident this morning will have a lasting effect.

There have been some tough things the last few years, for myself as well as many, many people. I've watched some get bitter and some get stronger. What is the difference? I believe it's choice. The one thing we do have is that we get to choose how we will respond. Will it make us stronger or destroy us?

Looking back, I'm grateful for my trials and someday may even love them for what they're helping me become. If you're struggling, hold fast! They are a gift. You're not alone and it too will pass.

you make 5% Commission on everything they purchase (your "leg" below you) and 3% Commission
on everything the leg under that leg sells! THIS IS RESIDUAL as long as you're an Active

4. Signing up stores.
a. You make money the same way signing up stores as you do signing up Consultants (5% and 3% and it also increases YOUR percentage.

5. Fund Raisers.
a. You purchase the Fund Raising kit or buy the brochures and you're ready to get started.
b. The organization will do all the work (basically), you just sell them on it and submit the
order.
c. You make 10% and they make 40%.

What Is a Mastermind?

This is fabulous information and can bring your success to a whole new level!

What is a mastermind group? A mastermind group is simply an alliance of two or more individuals dedicating themselves to a specific goal.

Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, first defined the mastermind as a “coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.

Hill’s concept of the “Master Mind” was inspired by Andrew Carnegie, wealthy steel magnate. According to Hill:

“Mr. Carnegie’s Master Mind group consisted of a staff of approximately fifty men, with whom he surrounded himself, for the DEFINITE PURPOSE of manufacturing and marketing steel. He attributed his entire fortune to the POWER he accumulated through this ‘Master Mind.’”

Since the publication of Think and Grow Rich in the 1937, the idea of mastermind groups has grown and evolved to become a staple tool of successful individuals.

The benefits of having a supportive mastermind group are plenty:

1.You have a group of people available to help you succeed.

2.You get the benefit of differing perspectives, input and feedback.

3.Your mastermind team can bring resources and connections to the table you might not have had on your own.

4.You receive accountability and inspiration from the group, thus enabling you to maintain focus in achieving your goals.

Napoleon Hill even went so far as to say there was a mystical quality created when a mastermind group was formed. He said: “No two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind.”

In other words, your ability to create things in the world is increased by having that invisible “third mind” of the mastermind group.

Creating a mastermind group does not necessarily require 50 men, as Carnegie used. Your mastermind group can be as small as two people and as big as your ability to coordinate it.

There are two basic types of mastermind groups: One which is focused on the success and vision of one individual, and one that is focused on helping everyone in the group.

The mastermind group Carnegie had was solely directed at his personal vision. The 50 men in the group were not all there to discuss their own projects. They were all focused on one main goal: the building of a steel empire.

This is actually the classical definition of a mastermind group, and creating one isn’t as hard as you might think.

To create a mastermind group that is dedicated to helping you achieve your personal goals, you can simply reach out to people in your network and explain to them that you are seeking their help as an advisor and part of your mastermind team. Consider this your own personal board of directors.

You’d be surprised at how willing many people are to help when asked, since it is an honor to be asked for an advice or an opinion. You don’t necessarily need to meet with your entire team in person in a formal setting. You might chat with each individually on the phone, or set up an email discussion list.

The second type of mastermind group is one where all members of the group are meeting to support one another in achieving a goal. These types of groups are everywhere, but aren’t always named mastermind groups. An Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is a form of a mastermind group, where the members get together to support each other in their sobriety.

More often, when someone mentions that a mastermind group is forming, they mean a group dedicated to success and achievement. You can create a group that is led by a facilitator (sometimes paid), or a group that is run by members. Beauty Tip: Eyebrows

I was thinking about this today while putting on make-up. My eyebrows are really blonde and so I get to come up with creative ideas to make them look good.... or even help to make them visible! Hahah!!!

If your eyebrows are really blonde or thin, there are a few options out there.

1. My favorite is to get a light colored pencil and shape it VERY lightly! Then I take some clear mascara and mix it with a tan colored eyeshadow and brush up on my eyebrows. It gives it some color as well as some shape as it molds them.

2. Permanent Make-up. This one I don't like as well. I know it says "permanent" but when I got it done about 6 years ago, the girl said it would be gone between 2-3 years. I did a very dramatic look (at the time I was into modeling and my singing career). Now, 6 or so years later when I prefer the natural shape, I have these "orang-y" looking small lines above my natural brows. Ugh!!! I've seen them on other ladies when they fade and quite often they do look orange, and I know I won't ever do that again. I do, however, like the permanent make-up as a lip liner.

3. Pencil. This is great and as long as you don't do it to dark, can add and look beautiful! A good rule of thumb is to go just lighter than their natural color.

There Are Angels Out There

The other day I was stressed out! I was running 100 miles a minutes (you probably know the feeling). I had an hour and a half to get my mats over to my new location before I had to drive (carpool) for football. I had borrowed my dad's truck and it was also the only opportunity I had to use his truck before my classes.

Well, if you've ever been to Idaho it's beautiful! It's only vice is the wind. I don't know what it is about the wind here, but it can just about knock you over and this Monday was no exception.

During the summer, I had been driving the mats across town and didn't have any problems at all, so I didn't anticipate a problem...

My 9 year old, Alec, and I started driving and didn't get very far when a mat flew out. I put it in park, told Alec not to get out no matter what and ran out to get the mat. It was so hard to get it back into the truck because the mats are quite large and with the wind pushing on it, it was just about all I could do. I had 4 cars behind me waiting and I'm sure they were frustrated. I quickly realized that mat would not work in the back, because it was up the highest, and so I put it in the cab-then we started driving again.

We got a few more miles and right at this intersection where you get on the highway, another mat blew out. I had to circle around and because of the angle, the wind was even worse at this location! I picked up the mat and had an even harder time getting it in. I finally got it in the back again and realized there was no way it was going to stay. The wind had picked up even more and it would fly out as soon as I got back into the truck.

I honestly didn't know what to do and had been having a rough day anyway, so I started to cry as I was sitting in the back of my truck on mats with cars driving around me getting frustrated. Then I started to pray, and the second I opened my eyes, this girl drove up! She got out of her car and asked if I needed help. She said she had a tie down and we could get them strapped down. Next a gentleman drove up and he had tie downs as well and between the three of us, we got it strapped down and I was able to make it to the gym.

I don't know what I would have done without their help. I know I wouldn't have made it. It was interesting that it happened just as I got finished praying. I know that there is a God out there that is mindful of me, that loves me and knows what I was going through.

I told them they were answers to prayers and I'm so grateful they took the time to stop.

My first business I owned was a gymnastics and all star cheering gym. The first Spring Recital I held must have gone on 3 hours in this hot school and there were so many kids. I remember actually feeling a little embarrassed and thinking what a failure it was because it was so long I thought everyone must be bored silly. Then I thought, "I'll never do that again!" I realized next time I wouldn't do it again. I would know how to do it better, what to change, and what to keep. This "failure" was one more step to success in my mind.

Combine ingredients into plastic, microwave-safe bowl and put in for 2 minutes. After two minutes, vigorously stir until it is well mixed and then pour onto wax paper in cake pan. Refrigerate and serve in an hour.

I hate scales. I've never been a believer about jumping on a scale. I like paying attention to how my pants fit and if they start getting a little tight, cutting back.

A few years ago I read a book about Marathon Running training. The man in there talked about how he hadn't realized he had gained a lot of weight. Months had gone by, and then one day he looked at the scale and realized he'd gained a lot of weight.

He talked about how important it is to jump on the scale once a week. I hate scales, but have come to agree with him. It's easier to maintain than to have to lose a few. A few times in my life (before I began this practice), I'd noticed my pants were getting a little more tight, then jumped on a scale and had gained a good 5 pounds! Ugh.

So I've made it a practice to weekly jump on the scale to keep myself in check. Yes, hormones and many other factors play a roll in this, but if you just pay a little bit of attention, I don't think you'll stray far.

An Inspiration To Me

There are so many people who inspire me in my life. For example, my parents are some of the most charitable people I've ever met. They're such "do-gooders" I often feel unworthy.

My daughter is the same way. She constantly amazes me. She's so strong, so kind, and so good. We were both exhausted after my last candle party and she knew I was going to mop the floor. She actually INSISTED on mopping it for me and spends a lot of time asking what she can do to help me. I think Heavenly Father actually sent me an angel.

My husband is another who amazes me. He's been through so much, it's hard to comprehend and he's so positive! He sees the value in all of it and lets it make him stronger and builds more character, rather than dwelling on what life may throw at him.

But this isn't who or what my article is about today. There's a lady who recently started taking music lessons from me. It's not the typical set-up. I teach piano, guitar, voice, and violin and she's learning the cello. However, she just needs someone to accompany her as she practices and critique her. I know enough about music theory and tone, etc. that I thought it would be fun for both of us.

This lady has got to be in her late 60's and she's just taking up the cello. I found out she recently went on this 20 mile hike, and she always sings in the choir. She is so beautiful inside and out. My dad told me when he first moved here, she was so nice he thought that he must be one of her best friends and then he realized she is everyone's best friend. She gave me some beautiful compliments as we practiced and she is so genuine. Someone that is so Christlike and so full of life-I really respect her.

So many people as they get older think they're too old to take something up. They use it as an excuse and let it stop them from truly living. As I was thinking about it this morning, I thought, "As soon as you stop living, that's probably when you start dying." That sounds so extreme and I probably have it wrong, but I've decided I want to be like her.

I want to be a light like she is and I want to "live" every day of my life. I want to try new things and continue growing and learning.

Staying Skinny Daily Tip: The Cheat Diet

Haha!! You needed to read this, right? Everybody should read this. It will take the guilt out of dieting (if possible).

This is actually very important. If you want to lose weight, drop your caloric intake for 5 days straight. Drop it by approximately 300-500 calories. The easiest way for me is to cut sugar out for 5 days. My caloric intake automatically drops! If you diet every day your metabolism will drop because your body cannot work as hard on less energy and it will conserve fat and calories. This method is much more realistic than what other extreme diets suggest and even more effective. This is why the "cheat" part of this is so important. It will keep your metabolism from going down.

Then for 2 days (I do Saturday and Sunday) eat whatever you want. You NEED to eat more calories than on your "good" days. Don't go absolutely crazy on your cheat days, but try to plan them out and enjoy them knowing they won't throw your diet off track.

I'm a little sore right now. I work out all the time but combining all these classes (tumbling, cheer, etc) on top of my workouts, is really working my core!

If you haven't tried it, L-Glutamine works great for sore muscles. I didn't know why, I only knew it did so I copy and pasted the scientific reasons below. I buy it in the powder form and mix it with drinks. While I was reading up on it, I also found that Atkins uses it before meals for sugar cravings.

One last thing, speaking of Amino Acids-did you know the egg is the only food that contains all the essential amino acids? Fun fact.

Daily Staying Skinny Tips: Eat Life for Energy

A good rule of thumb is: The sun is ENERGY. The food closest to that energy is what you want to put into your body. When you pick and eat fresh fruits or veggies, there are actual enzymes that are still alive you are putting into your body, hence, you are putting energy and life into your body.

When you're eating processed foods or foods that don't contain "life", don't expect to get a lot of energy out of them.

Staying Skinny Daily Tip: Exercise "Baby Steps"

The most important thing with exercise is consistency. I think we, as mothers, are so busy. In our heads, we think we need to block out 'X' amount of time for this AMAZING workout.

For example, I've been doing these long runs. My last run was 12 miles and I've been hoping to do a 15. However, that was 2 weeks ago!! When in the world can I block out 2 hours on my schedule? I can hardly find time to breathe.

I have 4 kids, church responsibilities, own a candle company, am teaching music lessons as well as tumbling, have to cook, clean, get groceries, run kids to football....on and on! Your list is the same as mine.

I think many of us actually feel guilty taking time for ourselves. Well, it's time to stop! AND I'm also going to tell you a simple solution.

Did you ever see the show "What About Bob"? It's about a man who is extremely compulsive and eventually drives his psychiatrist crazy. However, his psychiatrist teaches him an important lesson, Baby Steps. Beginning with small steps and eventually getting to big results.

To be toned, the most important thing is consistency! Yes, it would be good to do a 1-2 hour workout daily or at least 3 times a week. However, if life doesn't permit and if it seems a little overwhelming, start with 5 minutes.

Every morning! After you say your prayers, wash your face, and brush your teeth...put on your running shoes, do push ups, do yoga, do crunchs....I don't care what you do, just do something!

This morning I indulged myself and actually did 10 minutes. I put on my running shoes and ran as hard and fast as I could (in the rain) for 5 minutes. Then I came in and did 25 push-ups, some core strengtheners and some handstand push-ups for another 5 minutes. Do I feel fabulous?! Hahah!!! I actually do.

Honestly, if all you can commit to is 5 minutes, IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! To create a habit, they say it takes 3 weeks. If you can make it a habit, you'll see something else happening. It will become necessary. The 5 minutes will find a way to be 10, then 15, etc. You'll actually "find" the time. It will be YOUR time each day and you deserve it!

Commit yourself today. Write it down and just do it! Tell your family about it, whatever it takes!

Daily Staying Skinny Tip: Changing the Shape of Your Body

If you're trying to change the shape of your body by doing cardio, you're simply running in circles. Cardio is great for burning calories and and slimming down, but if you're tired of the ol' pear shape or muffin top-the only true way to get rid of it-is resistance training.

Lifting weights or resistance training can increase muscle mass and as it does so, it increases your metabolism and actually changes the shape of your body. It's the only true way to change the shape of your body.

It's okay if you haven't done it before. It's easy to learn and I guarantee someone in your family or at the gym would be more than happy to go over the proper technique with you.

If you're thinking you're too old to start, think again! I don't know your age, but as long as it's okay with your doctor, go for it!

I like to look through magazines and find a picture of the body I want to have. It sounds silly but I'll carry it in my purse and look at it as I'm pulling credit cards out, etc., and try to imagine it's me. You really can have the body you want!

If you're at a restaurant, always ask for water (rather than soda) and ask for a lemon wedge with it. It's very important that your body is an alkaline state. Sugar, breads, meat all put your body in an acidic state. Lemon water neutralizes your body's pH.

When your body is in an acidic state, you are more susceptible to disease.

If you're working out SO HARD, and SO INTENSE that you're starving all the time and eating a lot of calories, you may be counterproductive.

Listen to your body. Some of my friends can burn 300 calories, but if they burn more than that they're starving! Other friends can burn 500 before they get to where they're too hungry and find themselves eating all day.

Exercising is important, very important. In fact, the higher the intensity the more your metabolism will increase. HOWEVER, if you're working out so hard that you can't keep your eating minimal, you may want to tone down just a bit to find your balance. Eating small portions is about as important as exercising when staying thin.

Thoughts on The Importance of Example

Albert Schweitzer said: Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing.

This article today is on example. I would like to start right now by asking a question.

“Will people want to know Christ because they know us?”

Mother Teresa taught: I have found the paradox that if I love until it hurts, then there is no hurt, but only more love.

The other day I was at Walmart. There’s a cashier, I always seem to get in her line, that has not been very nice to me. I’ve tried to make it a point to be cheerful and kind. The other day, I found her line, walked up and said her name and told her I’d gotten in her line on purpose because it was always nice to see her. She was so nice!!! She just needed someone to love her. She explained for the last 4 months she’d struggled with sinus infections and had actually gotten her tonsils out and she’d been having a rough time.

It also made me think...you never know what someone is going through! We need to be examples of Christ.

My parents have always been good examples. My Dad always builds me up and makes me feel of worth and my Mom is always happy and feels great. They’re also amazing examples of charity and love. They’ve never had much, but would give anyone the shirt off their backs. I’ve seen them give, when they didn’t have enough to be giving and have been so grateful, so grateful. When I met my husband, Jon, one thing I loved about him was that he was the same way. He has a lot of charity and he’s such a good father. He spends time with the kids and teaches them the gospel by example and through his testimony. They’re all such great examples to me.

Mother Teresa also said: If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.

Christ, the greatest of all, taught the same thing. If one sheep was lost, he would leave the whole flock in search of that ONE sheep. He was the ultimate example.

I heard a wonderful story a couple months ago about a 16 year old girl who right before she went into a diabetic coma said to her mother, “Promise you won’t leave me, will you, Mommy?” Her mother responded with, “Of course not, I would never leave you, darling, I promise. And a promise is a promise!”

That happened in 1970 and in 1996 when the story was exposed, her mother had kept her promise to never leave her daughter. She sat by her daughter’s side and fed her every two hours and gave her insulin every 4 hours without fail for 26 years!

Imagine not sleeping for more than 90 minutes at a time for 26 years! What an example of love and keeping your word!!

Christ taught: Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

What an example we would be if we lived this!

I want my kids to be loving and kind, and they are. I feel so blessed. When you’re a first time parent you find yourself chuckling quite a bit as the little one tries to imitate you. You really see who you are.

I didn’t even know I would turn my head a certain way when I talked or laugh a certain way, until I saw an infant do it when it was obvious the only place it could have been learned was through me. Our kids will hold cell phones up to their ears as babies and talk and laugh into the phone the way we do. They want to do their hair the way we do. They want to dress the way we do. What an impact we make through our examples!

Jon has always been so good about getting my door. Now the boys always get my door. They even race each other to be the one to do it! They’ve learned by Jon’s example.

Ciara is a good example. She’s so loving and kind to her brothers and helps me out all the time. I don’t know what I’d do without her and am grateful she’s such a good example.

If my example is not loving and kind, how can I expect my children to be?!

There’s a saying that explains you can tell a lot about someone by the way they treat their waitress.

You never know how an act of kindness can change a person’s life.

There’s a story Wayne Dyer tells about a teacher who has a student she doesn’t like. Joe is a poor student and she actually finds pleasure in putting a big F on his paper. He comes to class late, is sloppily dressed with his hair a mess, doesn’t have any friends, and does poorly. As his teacher, she’s supposed to read his record and waits to read it last...right before Christmas.

She’s puzzled as she reads how in first grade he was a joy as a student! The teacher loved him. He had many friends, was well liked, and got wonderful grades. In 2nd grade, he still had many friends, got good grades-but sometimes was late for school as that year, his mother was diagnosed with a terminal disease. In 3rd grade, he often fell asleep in school, was quiet and reserved, and the teacher was worried if someone didn’t intervene he could have problems. Which brings him to 4th grade.

She buried her face and cried at how she had judged him. She had not been a good example as a loving teacher.

The next day was the Christmas party. She opened all the beautifully wrapped presents from the other students and saved his for last. The students snickered at the sloppy present, and snickered even more when she opened it and found a half used bottle of perfume and a rhinestone bracelet, with rhinestones missing.

She put the bracelet on and opened up the perfume and applied a dab to her neck. After school, Joe waited until everyone had left and then walked up to her and said, “You smell just like my mom used to.” He left with a big smile on his face.

For the rest of the year she cared for him, and tried to make a difference in his life. At the end of the year, he wrote her a letter which said she was the best teacher he had ever had! When he graduated 6th grade, he gave her another letter saying she was still the best teacher he had ever had.

Years later, after graduating from high school as Valedictorian, she received another letter saying she was still the best teacher he had ever had.

A few years later still, she received another letter, saying she was still the best teacher he had ever had, but this time after his name were the letters MD.

A few months after that, he sent her a letter saying he was getting married and since both parents had passed away, asked if she would sit in the place of his parents, and that once again, she was still the best teacher he had ever had.

She had been an example of love in his life, and it had made all the difference.

I’ve had many people who have made a difference in my life through their Christlike example and actions. One of which was a dear friend named Mary. She was an angel to me at one of the lowest times of my life. She was there on my doorstep with ice cream, cookies, a shoulder to cry one... she ALWAYS knew when I needed her and she was always there. I believe God used her as an instrument in His hand to do good. She did more for me than she’ll ever know.

What kind of examples should we be?

Matthew 5:14-16

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Which leads us once again to Christ, the GREATEST example of ALL. In the Doctrine and Covenants, we learn that “The Son of Man hath descended below them all” and yet He lived a perfect life. He showed us the way, by example. He taught us to love, by His perfect example and He overcame the world.

Thyroid Problems-Need More Energy?

Thyroid problems run in my family.

When you have hypothyroidism, your energy levels can be low. Other symptoms are: low energy levels, dry skin or brittle nails, weight gain, low sex drive, hair falling out, hearing problems, constipation, memory problems or irregular periods. If you think you have a thyroid problem, you should get checked.

If you have a thyroid problem, you may need more iodine. Iodine is an essential element that enables the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones.

I have found a product I LOVE!! It's called LIQUI-DULSE and it's a liquid iodine product. You can find it at many health food stores. Just 4 drops in your water are equivalent to 150% of your daily intake of iodine. This may not work for you, but it gives me loads of energy and I love it so much I had to share it with you. Insufficient iodine is, in fact, considered the most common-yet also most preventable-cause of brain damage throughout the world, with 1.6 billion people at risk. It causes miscarriages, stunted growth, mental retardation and problems in movement, speech or hearing.

Protein for Vegetarians or Almost Vegetarians!

After my article yesterday, "My Secrets to Staying Skinny", I've received a lot of emails asking questions about what I do for protein. I do eat a lot of vegetables and don't eat much meat so I supplement with other sources of protein.

My favorite? I love the Muscle Milk light. It's lactose free (which is good for me) and has no sugar added. It has 15 grams of protein and is only 100 calories. I used to buy it at expensive health food stores but recently have found it at Walmart. It's easier on my stomach, and where I eat as little sugar as possible-that automatically puts it up a few notches on my scale. I like the Chocolate shakes. They're not as sweet as what you may be used to, but I like how they taste and don't get a weird aftertaste.

I also supplement with EAS 100% Whey Protein. It has 23 grams per serving and tastes decent.

Of course I eat nuts and look for other sources of protein as well, especially when I'm lifting weights a lot and doing some hard core workouts. I think generally people get hung up and think they need more meat than they probably do. If you remember from school (hahaha), they teach you a serving size is the size of your fist. Many people I know not only eat a much larger portion, but also eat it several times of day. I used to eat quite a bit of meat and actually thought I needed it to be healthy! I felt so much better, my skin looked better, and I lost weight as I cut down my portions.

I do eat a LITTLE meat (red meat) twice a month or so to get B Vitamins and iron so if you don't eat any meat at all, make sure you take a B Complex as well as iron as needed.

I also like sushi so if Jon and I go out, I'll eat meat then. Can't pass on the sushi!!!

My Secrets To Staying Skinny

I wish I would have known these when I was a kid! I always thought you had to starve yourself to be thin, when in reality-that's hardly the case and does the opposite. There are rules to being thin that make it so much easier, that involve health and emotional well-being. Here are a few I've learned:

1. Eat as many veggies as possible! You can eat plates and plates of veggies and not gain weight. This is true! A few veggies are actually negative calorie foods, meaning that when you eat them, you actually lose weight because they take more energy to digest than calories they're made up of. Celery is a good example of this. Don't ever feel guilty eating veggies and eat as many as you can. I can't reiterate this enough. If your meal comes with a salad, always eat the salad. I actually have a salad named after me, it's called, "The Stephygirl Salad." It's not made up of iceberg lettuce because I don't like iceberg lettuce. I love spinach but my salad has just a little big of spinach. The rest of the salad is made up of all different types of veggies. Cucumber, tomatoes, onions, sprouts, carrots, etc. The more the merrier! If you eat this once a day, you'll have so much energy, feel great, and not gain a pound. You'll even get so full when you eat this that you won't want to eat anything else.

2. Energy. This is another good point. Eating healthy will give you more energy, which means you'll be more active, and be able to be thin. A good rule of thumb is that anything closer to the sun has more energy. If you just pick a vegetable, the enzymes are still alive and hence, you'll be eating life.

3. Avoid sugar at all costs. Sugar, even if the thing you're eating has a small amount of calories, will affect you so negatively that you'll gain weight. If you went off all sugar (Soft drinks, cookies, etc.) for 1 week-by the 4th day your stomach will feel thinner around the waist and you'll feel better. A lot of this, I believe, is water weight. I think sugary products make your body hold onto more water because it needs more water to clean it out. My mother has a 6 page booklet on all the ill-effects of sugar. I can't say I avoid this completely, but when I do is when I feel my best.
Throughout the years (I should be doing it now), I'll do something where I won't eat any sugar Monday-Friday and only have it on the weekends at which point I glut myself until I'm sick. haha!! I always lose a few pounds just doing this!

4. Meat. Sorry all you meat eaters! There's a reason we should eat meat sparingly. Yes, we need protein but not as much meat as you'd think. If you know many vegetarians, they're usually thin. There's a reason for this.

5. Exercise. I'm an exercise fanatic, but if you're not, don't worry. I've been a runner my whole life but also enjoy YOGA and weights. Weights are great because they tone you up. They make ANYONE look better. They shape your body, whereas running just decreases the size. If you're wanting to change your shape, you need to do weights.
YOGA is great because it tones me up and I'm able to meditate as well. I challenge myself and do advanced poses, but whatever your level as long as you give it all you've got and end up a little sore, but not too much, you're on the right road.
Exercise is great because it also increases serotonin in your brain as well as gives you endorphins. When you're stressed, your serotonin levels decrease and you can become depressed. Exercise not only helps us physically, but emotionally. Speaking of which, if you are a little down but don't want to be on Antidepressants, 5-HTP is something to get at the health food store. :)

6. Body For Life. I love the "Body For Live" program. If you're looking for an actual program, this is one I would recommend. It rotates running (cardiovascular) with weight training. The running is interval training, which is the fastest way to increase your time as well as lose weight.
Interval running and the weight lifting program challenges you to max out and give it everything you've got. Intensity DOES make a difference.

7. Fast. As much as I don't like to fast, fasting is very good for you. It gives your organs a break and cleans out your system. If you get headaches or feel sick when you fast, it's because the toxins are working their way out. If your eyes get red and you get headaches, you probably have more of a need to fast than you realize. You may want to recommend looking into a lemon/cayenne fast or something similar.

8. Affirmations. You can buy subliminal slimming music to listen to, however, if that thought scares you do affirmations! Tell yourself 100 times that you don't like sugar or that you're thin and feel great. Whatever your goal is, write it out and SAY IT-a minimum of 100 times a day. Say it when you're lying in bed at night and first thing when you wake up in the morning (after your prayers of course). :)

9. Don't Eat Late At Night. It's a dirty habit! Eating in bed or eating late at night. Where does the food go? Well, it digests....slowly in your intestines after it sits there a while. When you're running around in the day, it moves through your body and you're able to burn it off! I had a hard time with this in college, however, I made it a habit and I just don't do it. I don't allow myself to do this at all and now I don't like it! If I do eat late at night, I'm bouncing off the walls and can't sleep.

10. Smaller Portions. When we first moved to the Philippines, I ordered a Family size pizza for us in the hotel room. A small pizza came that I could eat myself! This was just the beginning. They have such small portions over there that when we would eat out, I would ask how many servings a specific dish was and then order 2-3. Mind you, I'm 5'2" and 100 pounds-if that gives you any idea of the size of their portions.
When we got back home, the serving sizes were so big it blew my mind. When my husband and I would go out for Date Night, we decided we needed to share because there was no way we could eat that much!
Since I've returned, I'm slowly creeping up to the larger portions, but there's really no need! We Americans eat too much! There's a reason the Philippino people were so small and healthy. We could probably eat about a fifth of what we do eat and feel better.

11. Water. Drink a LOT of water.

12. Get at least 8 hours of sleep at night. Good luck with this one! They've done studies where ladies who got at least 8 hours of sleep at night, generally, were more thin. I say, just do the best you can. When you're a mom, sleep is definitely limited!

If ya blow it, give yourself a free day and start tomorrow with baby steps. Don't be hard on yourself and set goals you can reach. If you eat so much sugar regularly that your first goal is to not eat sugar until 10 am, then start there and work up! Set goals you know you can achieve until you get strong enough to be who you want to be!

Krista had a candle party last night! It was a huge success and she was able to show off her product and attract new clients for repeat sales. Here are some pictures from the party.

Krista had it set up with tables, bookshelves, samples, a drawing... everything was really nice.

If you've never seen these scented teddy bears, they're pretty neat. You put them in children's rooms where you don't want to put a warmer or a candle. They let off scent. They're not super strong but if you want the scent to be stronger, you take a blow dryer and dry it for a minute or two. The wax will heat up and the scent will be there again OR spray it with room spray to bring out the scent.

Kids love them!

Some of my favs... the first candle is a Grapefruit Essential Oil candle. First of all, I love how it looks but I even love how it smells more. I LOVE THIS CANDLE!

I'm sure you can see why I love the next one. It's in our famous Diva scent and SUPER CUTE, is all I can say. Pictures don't do this candle justice. Just about everyone who sees this, loves it!

Love these candle warmers. They're small plug ins and I thought they were a lot bigger, but so elegant. I love the look of them. One if red and the other purple.

Super cute Hello Sunshine pillar! It's HUGE. This picture doesn't show how big it is. It's three wick and I'm sure hours of burn time. Adorable yellow and pink stripes bring

sunshine into any room.

Our waxes come in all our unique designer scents. Some of my favs? Coolest Citrus Basil, Limelight, Sweet Thang, Butt Naked, French Vanilla a la Mode, and recently... Creamy Creme Brulee. Mmm....

We've got some beautiful designer handmade pillars we do, depending on the season. This is a green one we did for St. Patrick's Day called 'Goin' Green' in one of our Candle Holders.

Anyway, it was a fabulous time! Krista did a great job.
